The design inspiration for Nicola Bottono's wearable vessels come from the containment of that which is held as sacred. The contemporary silver bottles were originally constructed to carry water from the Holy Wells of Cornwall. They can be used to carry sand from your favourite beach, earth from a festival field or the ashes of loved ones departed. This connects the wearer to a person, place or event that they hold as sacred. The wearable vases allow tiny seasonal flowers to be sited within, kept fresh by a small amount of water. The hinged vessels allow objects of sentiment to be placed inside. Each piece is hand crafted in sterling silver by Nicola, using the techniques of texturing, press forming and fabrication. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office.
